Keeley Hawes, the sexy Ashes to Ashes star is now the sexy parlour maid, Rose, in the revival of Upstairs, Downstairs the classic period piece drama.
The 34 year old actress has the title role in the new series that is set in London before war and packed with plenty of sensuality according to press releases about the plot.
The show was first aired on ITV back in the beginning of the seventies, but for its remake it was picked up by the BBC with the aid of American backers.
Also in the cast are Anne Reid, Art Malik, and Ed Stoppard with original cast member Jean Marsh set to take on her role as Rose Buck who is now the housekeeper. She is the only cast member from the original series slated to be back for the revival.
Dame Eileen Atkins who created the story line along with Marsh has also taken on a role this time around playing the matriarch of the family who lives above them at 165 Eaton Place.
The new series will pick up six years later in the year 1936 and will show Rose make a very emotional return to London so that she can serve a new family under the hand of the sour Lady Agnes Holland.
Portrayed by Hawes, the maid is said to be colourful but willing and able to handle a good ‘ass-kicking.’
Heidi Thomas the writer stated that the scenes will be filled with sensuality and the drama will portray warm blooded humans showing just what happens behind closed doors and how much tension and pressure can build until things start to explode.
