Steven Moffat teamed up with Matt Smith this week at a Cardiff event celebrating Smith’s takeover of the role of Doctor from previous Doctor Who cast member David Tennant.
Moffat preached that the new series launch will further explore the dynamic between the Doctor and his friend but at times may scare its fans at new levels that his ten year old son described as one the scariest thing that the Doctor has ever encountered.
He added that there is another episode that will suck the air right out of you, but then make you want to rewind it for a second viewing.
Moffat also commented on the large amount of guest stars slated to appear this season which include Helen McCrory, Bill Nighy, and James Codren from Gavin and Stacey. He claimed that it is not hard to get big names to appear on the screen because everyone loves the show, and even more so if they have small children.
Moffat is the replacement lead writer for the series for Russell T Davies and noted additionally that romance just may take place between the Doctor and his new friend Amy Pond who is portrayed by Karen Gillan.
He explained that with two attractive people you cannot help but see a little romance written in there. However, he said it is a complex story that is not very simple so it will be intriguing to watch unfold gradually over the course of the season.
