Coronation Street, the stage version

Coronation Street, the long lasting ITV soap, sorry, ongoing drama serial, will soon commemorate its 50th anniversary with a stage show version that takes place in August at the Salford Lowry Theatre titled the Coronation Street Abridged Live affair.

The production will be two hours in length and will take the audience through over 2000 storylines and 7000 episodes but will not include any current or past cast members from the television format.

Kieran Roberts, the executive producer of the show, said that the production will be a treat and that Coronation Street has been a large part of the pulse of the British television heartbeat for fifty years which means there has been a lot of laughter, drama, and memories.

Coronation_Street_Opening_2002Roberts continued to say that he is thrilled to bring the television show to life and that most Corrie fans will enjoy the show which should make for an excellent night at the theatre.

The show was written by the scriptwriter for the television series, Jonathon Harvey, and includes some of the most loved storylines and the most popular characters of the show such as Bet Lynch, Hilda Ogden, and Curly Watts.

The news of the large scale celebration comes in the wake of the EastEnders anniversary celebration last month in which they aired a live episode for the first time.
